Green Community News

There are so many great non-profits whose stories and efforts often fly beneath the radar. Fortunately, with the advent of technology and our integrated social media platforms, tales of community-based triumphs are getting our attention more than ever. Case in point: EarthForce is on its way to becoming a “Top-Rated Green Non-Profit” via nomination and public recommendation through the Green Choice Campaign, a project by GreatNonprofits, the Sierra Club, and Environmental Volunteers.

Earth Force is a national non-profit organization with local offices in 51 cities. The mission of the organization is to engage young people as active citizens who can improve their environment and communities now and in the future. Focused on empowering youth through education, community building, service learning, and civic action, Earth Force believes that positive change can occur when young people have “multiple opportunities to practice their application of science to community problems”.

Based out of Denver, CO, Earth Force works with partners and sponsor organizations to create programs that align with their interests and meet the needs of the community. From the US EPA to the Boeing Company to the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund, supporters of Earth Force are recognizing the impact that engaged and educated young people can have in creating sustainable communities. As the organization most poignantly highlights, 24% of the US population is under 18, which means that there is over “75 million people with boundless energy and ingenuity that can and should be energized to tackle community issues”.
Good luck Earth Force!
